Many rural community CEDS, and the state itself, recognize the potential benefits of investing in outdoors and nature-based activities for the good of economies and health.
Many rural community CEDS, and the state itself, recognize the potential benefits of investing in outdoors and nature-based activities for the good of economies and health.

Across Alaska, community economic development strategies keep pointing to the same opportunity: grow tourism and outdoor recreation—on local terms.

  • Kodiak Area Native Association’s CEDS includes a plan of action to establish the archipelago as a top recreation destination rooted in culture and community benefit.

  • SWAMC and BBNA CEDS identify tourism as a pathway to resilient jobs, diversified economies, and cultural vitality.

  • The Statewide CEDS frames outdoor recreation as a strategic growth sector.

The homework is done. The priorities are clear. Now it’s time for action.

Why Kodiak? Because here, community leaders, Tribes, and local partners are ready. Hosting Confluence in Kodiak brings these CEDS goals to life—aligning cultural tourism, guiding and outfitting, trails, cabins, and working waterfronts into a shared strategy.

The Regenerative Difference: Regenerative economic development means community benefit first, culture with consent, right-sized infrastructure, and resilience over volume.

Who Should Come: Tribal and village leaders, outfitters, guides, retailers, land managers, planners, funders, and anyone working to see community priorities become real projects.

Your Takeaway: Confluence isn’t about receiving a finished plan. It’s about creating one together. Attendees in the room will decide what priorities to elevate and what actions to pursue in shaping a 10-year vision for a regenerative outdoor economy.
